12-7 Practice the Skill: Commas After Introductory Elements

Insert in red color any missing commas in the following sentences. 
  1. Before a trip to Germany, you should consider including in your visit, a trip to the Bavarian Alps.
  2. In the Bavarian Alps one can visit several famous castles.
  3. First, a traveler can visit the famous Neuschwanstein Castle.
  4. Visiting this castle, a tourist must walk one mile into the Bavarian Alps near Füssen, Germany.
  5. After studying a castle in Germany, King Ludwig II of Bavaria made plans to build his own.
  6. Although Neuschwanstein resembles a medieval castle, it was actually built in the nineteenth century.

2. French citizens donated the money to build the statue, and citizens of the United States raised money for the base. 
3. The Statue of Liberty and the immigration station at Ellis Island form the Statue of Liberty National Monument.
4. The dedication of the statue on October 28,1886, was celebrated on land and sea.
5. A crown, a torch, and a tablet are part of the statue.
6. Lady liberty proudly holds a glowing torch.
7. The statue was first called "Mother of Exiles" in a poem by Emma Lazarus.
8. Frederic Austuste Bartholdi designed the statue and supervised its construction in Paris.
9. The statue was later restored, and interestingly, an entirely new torch was created.
10. Official celebrations for the newly restored statue were held in July 1986.

Ranking among the four most spectacular waterfalls in the world, Victoria Falls lies between Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The falls, dramatically drops 335 feet over a crest, that spans one mile. Actually, the height of the falls is 256 feet at the right bank, and, it rises to 355 feet in the center. The discoverer of the falls, David Livingstone, visited the site on November 16, 1855, while on a trek down the Zambezi River. He said, "Scenes so lovely must have been gazed on by angels in their flight." He later stated that the falls was, "the most wonderful sight I had witnessed in Africa." The native name of the falls means, "the smoke that thunders," but, honoring Queen Victoria, was Libingstone's goal in naming the falls.
